________________________________________________
As many of us know, our lives can change completely  in the second of a heartbeat.  Tommie Tomlin was my husband of 30 years and my very best friend and loyal supporter.  I have always referred to him as "the wind beneath my wings" -  so strong was his support for me.   Tommie passed to another life on February 1st 2010 .  He left behind beautiful memories to cherish and taught me many things that will serve me well until I join him.  He was a very special man and I ( as well as everyone he touched with his life) am blessed to have been a special part of his life.   Here's to you, Tommie Tomlin.

This newsletter will always be published
in memory of you.

It  has been a busy year .  I have created a new schedule of classes and workshops available beginning in September 2011.    Please check out my class and workshop schedule on the Events page of my website. In addition to the ongoing  classes I have been teaching for years, I am available for workshops in watercolor and pastel techniques as well as  in depth workshops on Composition and Design as well as  "Color  My World" - a complete color course.

Some big news since the last newsletter is the founding of a new gallery space for the Cabarrus Art Guild of Cabarrus County, which I have been a member of for 36 years!  After many years of searching and trying, We have a new home, thanks to Jock Liles and other owners of The Depot at Gibson Milll in Concord, a 50 foot long brick wall space which is now up and running and healthy and is known as The Cabarrus Art Guild's Brick Wall Gallery. For more information on the exhibits please go the the www.cabarrusartguild.org website .  We  are hosting an exnibit for the Cabarrus County high school juniors and seniors for the month of October, and our own member artists exhibited  their work at the annual  fall judged exhibit during October at the Old Courthouse Theatre in downtown  Concord.
The Best of Show Award for this exhibit is the Dr. Tommie Tomlin Memorial Award, and was presented along with other awards at the opening reception on Sunday, October 9 th from 2 to 4 PM at the Brick Wall Gallery at the Depot at Gibson Mill, 325 McGill Avenue, suite 250
Concorfd, NC   The Student Exhibit was a huge success and  winners and pictures of the exhibit are dislpla;yed during the month of November on the Cabarrus Co. School web channel, channel 21 for most.

Some of my historical site work and  lighthouses are available to be seen along with other things at the DEPOT AT GIBSON MILL - IN THE WEAVE ROOM   far corner  left.  Check it out next time you are at the Depot and don't forget to look at the current exhibit by the Art Guild in the Design Room on the"Brick Wall Gallery"

The alcohol inks are very popular and are rather addicting although no alcohol is consumed , however  plenty is used in the ink and on the paper.   The colors are brilliant  and  they are mostly considered what I call intuitive and abstract landscapes.    Although there are some larger ones, most of them  are 4 x 6 and a good size for  small spaces as well as  table top easels.  They make wonderful gifts .
